The Matter of Time

Today is Daylight Savings! Meaning for most of the United States (Arizona and Hawaii excluded) most of us lost an hour of sleep as our clocks were set an hour ahead. But for us here at the Chimp House, it was business as usual since the chimps don’t obey the concept of Daylight Savings. All this means is that the humans come in an hour later, though in reality it’s the same time had we not set our clocks forward.
When the chimpanzees were given access to Young’s Hill, Burrito zoomed out of his greenhouse and was off to the races.
He was so fast he was a blur!
Before we finished our morning run, he stopped for a bit and took in the morning sun.
For others, business as usual can mean something else.
For Mave, it meant a full day of lounging around.
Rayne spent the day fishing for raisins from raisin boards.
Honey B being mischievous.
Even when she’s eating her lunch, she has her eye on you.
Dora be inquisitive of the camera.
Cy being as handsome as ever.
Also being very inquisitive of the camera.

Mave gets cuter every time a see a picture of her and Honey B..what can I say! I watched (again) the blog from 12/31/21. It’s the one that told of the remote controlled door that would not close and no one could figure out why until finally Kelsi spotted the small toy nail sitting in the groove of the door, neatly tucked just out of sight of the door operator. There was no question of who put it there, only one suspect..Honey B. I have a few all time favorite blogs and this is one of them.
Nancy, The other day when JB posted that really cute picture of Honey B in her nest, I forwarded the photo to some of my friends and I was telling them how she blocked that hydraulic door. That’s one of my favorite posts too! and she knew exactly what she was doing. They sometimes ask her to move a blanket out of the way of a door, or move a toy out of the way. So she knows very well that the doors won’t close if there’s something there. And she tucked that little dowel out of sight. Genious!!!
Yes, she is a genius!
That first picture of Mave, resting on an elbow with the opposite leg bent, is fabulous. I may have to copy that. Or frame it.
I feel like a lot of Mave’s photos look like senior class photos

headed out to walk my dog in bright sunlight at 7:17 pm central……..all is well…..
When the kids I nannied couldn’t tell time I would start a couple days early and change the time daily in 15 minute intervals. Maybe this would work with the chimps. :slight_smile:
Now I’m enamored by Cy’s epiglottis AND those endearing, wispy, white hairs on the birthday boy’s chin… ?
Wonderful photos from today. Especially the super close-up of Cy’s squish lips! Looks like a creature from a sci-fi film. So nice the chimps and bovines didn’t have to deal with loosing an hour today. You think of everything to keep their lives flowing smoothly.
Of course she does, Chad….lunch is a leek with a side of your soul!
