Letting loose

As we were finishing up cleaning the playroom this morning, we caught two unusual suspects — Annie and Negra — in a pretty wacky game. For those of you just tuning in, Annie is the least dominant chimpanzee at CSNW. She is gentle and shy, and when she arrived here in 2008 she didn’t have the confidence to play with anyone except for her best friend Missy. And Negra is the oldest of the Cle Elum Seven, and prefers to spend the vast majority of her time under a blanket. So it was pretty special to see these two ladies letting loose this morning.

How I love hearing the laughter – from both chimp and humans. What a wonderful way to ring in my new year on the east coast. Happy New Year and may this be a year of more silliness and fun for all.
It’s like watching the Three Stooges, but waaayyyyy cuter.
So I wasn’t the only one who thought of the 3 stooges! And I agree, they are a lot cuter 🙂
nice to see Negra engage like this with Annie – both their temperments are probably gellen pretty good.
I turned 29 last week and I just can’t imagine that some of these chimps have been in captivity for that long. How can anyone think that they don’t have feelings or that they deserve to be inflicted with painful experimentation?
This video is just too cute, they remind me of my 2 Irish terriers who also play and “laugh.”
