The chimps would like to wish an early happy birthday to a not-so-secret admirer. Dr. Elliott Sumers has a birthday coming up in a couple of days and his wife Anne made a generous donation in his honor.
We’ll have an “official” celebration on Sunday, but wanted to start by sharing some photos of the chimps enjoying lunch in the greenhouse from today. We had a bit of a break from the winter weather and the sun was strong midday. The chimpanzees, as you can see, definitely appreciated it.

Loved your GUESS WHO? Made me smile after having a bad day
This one goes on the refrigerator for study.Thanks Diana! Great job of showing us the individuals and their beautiful faces. Does anyone else find it helpful to use, for identification purposes, besides studying brow ridge and face pigmentations, their ears? I’m new at this…for some reason I’m finding it helpful to know what their ears look like!
Yes, that’s what I first focused in on too!! They are all interesting, but Negra’s are special!
Is there anything better than seeing the chimps enjoying their healthy brussels sprouts and greens?! Wonderful photos, each and every one!
