Happy Birthday, Willy B!

Today is Willy B’s 34th birthday! We are so fortunate to be able to know, love, and care for this special chimpanzee. He certainly always keeps us on our toes, whether it be trying to understand the motivation behind some of his actions, or quite literally when he suddenly decides its time to play chase (never miss out on a game of chase with Willy B!)! There’s so much to love about Willy B from the silly faces he makes when he sees himself in a camera, the way he eats many crunchy foods (like fennel, with the side of his mouth munching on them like a rabbit), watching him crack open a coconut (see today’s video to enjoy this for yourself), his satisfied food grunts, his ever-growing bravery in conquering The Bray, witnessing all the small moments of friendship between him and the other chimps in his group, and so much more.
We celebrated Willy’s birthday with coconuts, pineapple juice cups, and banana chow cookies with a peanut butter frosting on top. In addition to the food festivities, we made sure Willy got to enjoy one of his favorite pastimes of watching videos of chimps. I think it is safe to say he had a great birthday! Happy birthday, Willy B!

Happy Birthday, Willy B! I noticed that Dora has now integrated. It will be interesting to see how it goes when the other two males are eventually brought back into the fold. I wonder if it turns out to be specifically Terry or Gordo that he has a problem with.
Yes, Dora is also in the gang….I am wondering how dear Mavis is doing without the love of her life…..

Happy 34th birthday, Willy B and I have to say that you get more handsome as you grow older. Enjoy your special day surrounded by your loving pals, yummy food and your favourite pastime of chimp videos! No doubt a well deserved nap will be on your agenda after those birthday shenanigans.

Lucky was really racing around in her blanket car, too! She’s very good at grabbing some snacks while driving!
I wish William the B a very good new year of life. Although I am pleased that his actual birthday was discovered to be November 30, I think that, due to his voluminous appetite, his previously assumed birthday might need to be kept in reserve just in (the likely) case that he needs more coconuts to crack and chow-cookies to devour.
Willy B, you are such a good looking dude, happy birthday. You need the hanging mirrror to check out your handsome face and teeth like you were able to do when you first arrived.

I also noticed Lucky scooting around, and although it looks funny it worried me, knowing it is a sign of her anxiety. She might not be a big fan of change?
And I was wondering if Willy’s wrists might love a splash of coconutoil…….

Willy B is my dear Pal, what fun to experience all the love you poured into his special official birthday! How is it that big and strong Willy B can’t crush that coconut in two whacks? But he has certainly improved his technique! Loved his hoots when he saw, and sniffed, his special initial cookie. All the while Lucky, in the background, traveling around on her blanket scooter.
