Drama and Dora on the Bray

I mentioned this incident in a comment on my blog post from last week. There was some interest from blog readers to see the footage of this fight in which Dora is interested enough to go onto the Bray, but apparently only wanted to watch, not participate, as she made a break for it when the intensity increased.

Dora can be a force when she does get involved in conflicts, so it’s just as well that she chose to stay out of it this time.

While fights are not uncommon, even in groups like Cy’s that fight more than the average, the amount of time they spend in conflict is minuscule compared the amount of time they spend in friendship.

Most of their days are filled with comfort and joy… which is why we are holding the third annual Comfort and Joy Quid Pro Throw online auction from October 31 – Nov 20. We will be adding items throughout, so check in daily.

*New this year* – if you register for the Comfort and Joy online auction, you’ll be a guest (virtually) at Lucky’s birthday on November 6th! So, don’t delay, register today.

Wow, they were balled up tight for a second there, Diana!

Rayne has an interesting scream/call. I couldn’t tell if she was trying to be the peacemaker or (flareup) getting it going again.

    Love Dora’s strategy!
I see Lucky’s blanket car was almost offroad AND in stealth (invisible) mode! 🙂
Kerping to the boardwalk seems to be a power position during these dustups, the extra height being an advantage over those on the ground.

I couldn’t tell if it was Willy B or Gordo again. Gordo was farther away when they got it going again. And Honey B came back out to slap everyone into shape!

And of course, the 6 were taking it all in. All they needed was popcorn!

Thanks for the video, Diana. Now I see why Dora stays inside! She was pinned in place. I could almost hear the conversation in her head starting with asking why she ran out so far! Dora may not venture out often but I’m calling out her bravery on that day. Her ‘nothing happening here’ maneuver to get inside safely and unnoticed took guts. Well done!!

Looking forward to this years Comfort & Joy online auction. Always fun to partake!

Oh my, makes my hair stand on end just watching. So glad no one was hurt.

i was having trouble identifying who was who in the group but it seemed that Gordo (I think) was posturing quite a bit from left to right perhaps stirring up the group. i think a couple of times I saw Cy try to get some order restored. As the saying goes all’s well that ends well. The hugs and grooming was a good way to show everyone that with all of the drama and some injuries chimps manage to return to a quieter state. i”m curious if the others were observing all of this from Young’s Hill or inside. it does make your heart pound in the heat of the moment, doesnt it. i’m glad Dora kept herself safe.

The six weren’t there at the beginning, but by the end, if you look over at the greenhouse, you can see them hanging on the mesh. I’m not sure, but I think I even saw Annie rocking back and forth

I love Dora, so relatable just sliding though the conflict back into her enclosure!

I always wonder if the nearby neighbors can hear much of the cacophony. The video was interesting to watch and I’m glad there were only minor injuries.
Looking forward to the auction, love the great item (I would call it the grand prize) of a day at the sanctuary.

I love to see their natural chimp-like behaviour, even when it’s kinda disturbing.

I’ll bet Burrito was glued to his favorite viewing spot for this! Poor Dora just wanted to stay away from all the drama.

Do you know what could have been the cause of the incident?
