Catching Up

Hello everyone! I hope you all enjoyed the Be Mine series. I loved getting to share more with you all about each individual in our care, but was also eager for the series to end as I have been saving up some special moments from around the sanctuary to share with you all!
If you read Grace’s blog yesterday, then you know that Honey B is back home with her group after a separation due to an injury she sustained near her eye. We are all so thrilled for her to be back! One of the biggest difficulties when chimps are separated from their group is keeping them entertained. Honey B, being herself, made this relatively easy (besides moments when we needed to distract her from picking at her healing injury) as she is constant entertainment! She is such a fun person who keeps us on our toes, and constantly impressed by her ingenuity and humor!

Honey B is a fantastic helper, that’s for sure! Amazing to see her eye in close focus in some of the footage; what a beautiful repair job was done. Thank you for sharing this with us all!

Honey B and The Boss have sooo much in common! Glad she kept herself entertained
I’ll bet Honey B is happy to be reunited. I wish I had Honey B to help me clean my windows, she was putting a lot of effort into wiping them dry. I had a funny thought ( to me anyway). She and Iwould be cleaning side by side and she would start telling me about some of the mischief she has gotten into “did you see the one when I pulled the hose in, that was a good one” and how about the time I placed that small little screw in the automatic door and they couldn’t close it. Well, be warned, she’s baaack.
Honey B! What in the world goes through her mind?! Flossing her tongue with the hair was hysterical! Have you ever seen her do that before? She is a piece of work. And I have to ask, was Honey B watching old Martha Stewart shows while she’s recuperating? HB cleaned the foot box properly, using the right sized brushes in all the right places. When she finished up by cleaning and buffing the bottom I thought I’d die. Sign her up for a degree from an online university. I’m betting Honey B could do it, easy peasy. Seriously, thanks for that video, Ellen.
And I love your photo selection of these three dear gals. Sun drenched Annie does look regal. Love the twinkly look in Negra’s button eyes, shows how much she’s enjoying that mouthful. Rayne showing off her famous upper-lip-suck expression.
Honey B is such a character! As soon as you said cleaning, I knew it would be her. There’s something about watching her try to groom a caregiver with a giant plastic toothbrush that just tickles me.
That Annie picture is just gorgeous. Annie is so pretty. The way the light is hitting her eyes is just breathtaking.
Of course, I feel like Neggie has been taking some pointers from Burrito in the snow eating department. Just going all in for the mouth full. I love seeing Rayne relaxing, too, her upper lip suck expression is just too cute!
The boots are approved, well they ARE very snazzy and Jamie definitely has designs on them. Love little Terry blowing raspberries in the background!
Ahhhh, the comfort of daily routines. And I’m seeing a common thread here. Six Degrees of Separation from Jamie!
Cy and Jamie both love to settle down with favorite reading material. I should have guessed that Cy is student of plant taxonomy. Perhaps next year he can assist in suggesting some edible flowering plants to add around the vegetable garden?
Sweet Lucky is a boot aficionado!! And she has very good taste. Does she like cowboy boots, too? And Terry just might be a boot man. He gave your new boots a nonstop raspberry salute!
Honey B often reminds me of Jamie. Here Honey B incorporates her sheets into the mesh with a little touch of looping but not quite the perfect tied knot Jamie has mastered. Not yet, or not this time. And could it be that HB likes that cubby for more than the obvious cozy enclosed space that it is? I see now that she has a big peep hole right next to her so she can keep watch below! What a crack up. What a clever gal!
Wow, Jamie looks so big when she displays. Beautiful. And someone asked “Are you Okay, Jamie?” Heck yes! New Boots on the Runway!!! And those boot are display worthy. Now the big question is….. Will Jamie be able to finagle those new boots away from you, Ellen?
Here’s to business as usual as we all get ready for the arrival of the new year.
IIRC, she has tied knots before…. more than once I have thought, “If we put her in Jamie together, they would probably organize a breakout.”
Jamie’s style of display hasn’t changed a bit! Glad to see her displays haven’t lost their cool factor! Of course, she’s only got eyes for the new footwear. Sweet Lucky might not be one for bombastic drumming displays, but she definitely is a lady who also appreciates a nice pair of new boots. I kned Terry would come by for a look, too!
So… Did Honey B wear the bucket hat she was admiring? :joy:
