Chimp Lesson #8: Take Some Time for Yourself

November 18, 2023 by Sabrina -

Share with your friends!

Continuing the series of lessons the chimps have taught us, today we have Dora to thank for teaching us to take some time for ourselves even when our days are busy, don’t skip the self care. Whether it be a vacation, yoga class or building a fine nest for a nap on a chilly day, make sure you take some time for yourself.

We also would like to thank all our supporters for the magazine donations made throughout the year! The response to our request for magazines has been amazing but Cy has a lot of gossip, travel and food magazines to get through right now, so we would like to put our magazine donation request on hold until he has time to catch up. We will be sure to let you all know when he has caught up on all his reading material and is ready to receive more.

Thankyou, Sabrina and Thankyou, Dora and Cy for reinforcing the need for “Me time”. Yes, these chimps teach us some important lessons and so I am now reclining on my sofa with a blanket, magazine and a cup of coffee. The laundry can wait a while.

Yep, I’m making the most of it as our Australian summer promises to be a scorcher! Wish we could savour some Pacific Northwest cooler weather over Christmas. Linda, are you on the Sydney region?

Susan, i’m in my blanket nest in the Northwest. Wanna trade spaces for a month or two.

Oh, don’t tempt mr. Still, at least we are away from the bush fires. Those people are doing it tough. Stay safe and warm over there.

Couldn’t be further, Susan! On the (currently rainy and slightly chilly) east coast!

Looks like a plush nest, Dora!

Dora is very slow and gentle building her blanket. I just about squealed each time she smelled her freshly laundered blankets!

Cy and his magazines! What wonderful supporters to have built up such a big stash you have to put a hold on new gifts!! Lucky Cy, to be loved by so many.

Take time for yourself is a key life lesson, thanks Sabrina. Hummm, I believe I see a new book in the making for next years auction! 😉

I love watching them build nests! The care with which they place each item, so delicately! I love how she sniffed each blanket before placing it!!! perfect!
