Rayne: The Coolest Girl at School

The best part of the mornings for me is serving the chimps their meals. I like to hear their excitement when food shows up; they tend to look over the food items that will be offered then they settle into their chosen spot to enjoy their meal. Gordo usually enjoys his meals out in the greenhouse, Lucky will sit up higher on top of the food chute, possibly to avoid the melee that can happen during meal time but for Rayne that spot is usually on a thin piece of firehose that is hung across the room. She has managed to master sitting cross legged on this thin hose for her entire meal and she seems, somehow, to be comfortable and content here. Watching Rayne stroll in casually each morning and take her spot for breakfast is definitely one of my favorite parts of the day.

I love the way Rayne enjoys sitting on the firehose. She looks so comfy. I should have known she‘d settle in on a hose for mealtime. Makes me think of two other ladies: Jamie and Honey B! I remember when J.B. added the firehose “swing” in the greenhouse for Jamie, she seemed to always perch upon it as if was her throne. And Honey B was always kicking back on her firehose “hammock” observing the contractors working on the new addition. Three smart ladies enjoy their firehose swings, makes me think they are on to something!

Raynie Chimpanzee is, like, totally, the coolest girl in school. How fortunate someone would be to be part of her clique, even though considering where she dines, it might be difficult to find a seat at her table with all the other cool chimps.
Chimpanzees have ridiculous balance and agility and low center of gravity helps also I guarantee that she’s perfectly comfortable there. You have the best job in the world i truly envy you that every morning you get to interact with these amazing anima!s I’ve always my whole life been fascinated with chimpanzees, orangutans and gorillas but chimps are my favorite. Say hello to Rayne,Gordo and Honey B for me. :two_hearts:
