A Place Like This

On Thursday, I wrote a blog about grief. Today, I would personally like to thank each and every one of you. For an emotion that often leads to loneliness, it felt like so many of us brought comfort to each other. I am not sure if you all know how special you are to CSNW. While we may write the blogs for you to all learn about the chimps and fall in love with them as individuals, you all have created a community with a very supportive and positive atmosphere. It can be hard to find a place like this on the internet. So thank you for creating this wonderful place.
Today was a peaceful quiet day with slow morning patrols, chimps playing, Willy B displaying :), Jamie asking for grapes from the vine, Cy flipping through magazines, and chimps grooming in the warm greenhouses. Please enjoy some chimps selfies!

Yes, I was struck, and touched, by how your blog brought us all together. As you said, particularly on the internet. So we know we have the chimps in common, but I think we also share a certain characteristic of a loving heart.

I want to thank you too, Kelsi, not only for your informative and heart-felt blog posts, but for your intelligent and compassionate care for the residents of this wonderful sanctuary. The outpouring of grief and love for Jody from this community of supporters indicates that, whether we have met them in person or not, we support the mission of the sanctuary and those who reside there.
I can tell from your photographs of your dog-friend that he was happy to be at the beach; moreover, the best part of his visit was that he could be there with someone he loved:. you.

Kelsi, with everything you do for the chimps, all you give of yourself, and all you share with us, why wouldn’t we be here for you to show our gratitude and support in the hopes of raising your spirits. It is your hard work, and your love, respect, creativity, and selflessness, all of you together, that creates this wonderful place. It’s the power of the chimpanzees! How can anyone resist their individual charms?! I mean, look at these faces. Handsome Willy B, satisfied Jamie, and sweet sweet freckled Terry.
Grab Jamie for a late night patrol and stop to look at the big bright blue moon tonight!! It’s gorgeous. (Does Jamie still block off access to closing up the greenhouse runway door so she patrol late into the summer night? I will never forget her first night walk! One of my all time favorite blog posts.)
Hi, Kelsi, thank you for the beautiful photos of the chimps and your kind words. As Maureen says I also was struck and touched by how your blog on your grief brought us all together; though we may be many, miles away from each other (I’m writing this from Sydney, Australia!) it’s so good to know that we are all united. Our thoughts were with you in your loss and in our hopes and best wishes for the chimps and bovines who call your sanctuary home. Thank you for being there for these amazing residents and for bringing them into our lives. Take care.
