Spring Pedicures!

Spring hoof trimmings happened this week!! Every Spring we have specialists to do routine hoof trims on Betsy, Nutmeg, Honey and Meredith and to make sure their hoofs look healthy. In addition to that, Dr. Erin and I updated the bovines on their yearly core vaccines which are Leptospirosis and Tetanus. We are very grateful for Mr. John Thomsen and his son Blade Thomsen from Thomsen Livestock Services for making the drive over here. All of you might know this already, but Nutmeg is quite a big steer, and past hoof trimmers were not able to accommodate him in their tilt table, but he fits perfectly on the Thomsen’s table. We took the opportunity to take stifle, hock, and hoofs radiographs as well to have on their medical records. All four bovines are very content with their new pedicures.

Well, if you were playing ‘stump the city gal’, you win. i had no idea there was such a thing as a hoof trimmers table.

As Tom said, good thing Nutmeg is such a good boy…I can’t believe being flipped sideways isn’t scary for them. And he’s a big boy to scare…
Did he lick the truck again? 😉

That’s what I call service! Nutmeg appears to be very cooperative. Sending many thanks to Mr. John Thomsen and his son Blade for helping our four bovine friends. I’ll add an extra thanks and a hug for bringing your table for big, sweet Nutmeg!

I often look at the photos of Nutmeg as a baby, and then more recent ones…..he’s so enormous but still sweet! Lovely to see that they’re ready for the Spring and Summer ahead….they must be as excited as Negra to see the new grass coming through!

P.S. A very big thank you to the Thomsens and the vet team……not the easiest jobs in the world! ?

Thanks to all for your loving and conscientious care of these buddies! I look forward to photos of them romping in the green as the spring/summer moves along. Each is his/her own form of “Twinkle Toes.”
