I think that the title of this morning’s post (It’s Foxie’s birthdaaayyy!!) accurately reflected our staff’s enthusiasm for today’s big celebration.
It was a busy day for the humans, but the sanctuary’s chimpanzee residents seemed to enjoy every minute of it. First, this morning’s caregiving team prepared fruit-filled watermelon bowls and berry smoothies for both groups of chimps, sending them all into excited frenzies. While the chimpanzees were enjoying those in their groups’ respective greenhouse enclosures, Dr. Erin swung by with some fresh grapevine from a neighbor’s property which we passed out as forage and nesting material. On top of all that delicious food and browse, Foxie also received a unique gift from our supporters: a pile of new dolls from which to select her new favorites!

Happy Birthday dear Foxie! Looks like it was a fun party and those watermelon bowls look so yummy you can see they were a big hit. Love the video especially where she has all the dolls to choose from on the table in front of her and she takes a few drinks before she chooses a few! Thank you to all who made this possible. Hugs to all.
lol, the dolls will wait, as only (maybe) Jo wants one. Drink before the others come to take it! 😀

Their pre-party enthusiasm says it all. Can’t say it enough, I love your watermelon bowls. Simply beautiful! Foxie went for the special party dirnk but found time to pelvic pocket some new dolls to take along for later!

Happy birthday you Foxie lady!! I love the dolls you. chose to carry in your pockets. Their red hair matched the watermelon bowls and some of your birthday fruit. I think your birthdays.are definitely getting better. I just wish I could have helped you celebrate. But the video was great!!

I’m coming a little late to this party but with no less enthusiasm and delight! I adore these videos and all the fabulous communications of approval and excitement everyone is vocalizing. And the schlurping of the drinks and fruit bowls, and being a part of the festivities from afar. Gotta love how useful that pelvic pocket is!!
