Flourishing in Sanctuary

If you read the blog daily you have probably heard us use the words elusive or aloof to describe Gordo at some point in time. Gordo has been coming out of his shell for a while now, but recently he has been REALLY playful with not only his chimp friends, but his human friends too. I use this word a lot when talking about the chimps, but it has really been a true honor to watch Gordo flourish in sanctuary. But that is what it is, an honor, especially a chimp like Gordo who always seemed more reserved than others. When someone like Gordo lets you into his circle how could you not!
Gordo’s birthday is on Tuesday, he turns 34! We still have a few party things on the wish list for him!

Is Gordito wadging a chow bag there?
Tomorrow is World Chimp Day, everybody! Dr Jane has her video out. Direct as many as you can on the petting zoos’ sites to it-it’s an important one!
Are the chimps ever called to by their names or is that a no-no policy at CSNW? If yes, do they recognize their names? I don’t remember seeing video in which the caregivers call to them by name.
There are.
“Rescued chimpanzee refuses to get up” or something of that sort (trying to get Neggie put of bed).
“Lending a hand” or something of that sort, where JB asks Jody for help. Ill try to find one

Gordo was creating a wonderful nest with his paper. The Slinky was a nice embellishment. I am curious about what he was looking at beyond the door next to his nest.
It must me quite an experience to see him open up a little bit each day as he builds a relationship with you.

ive watch some videos of how some of the residents looked when they first came to CSNW.
