Here for the Show

Burrito spends a lot of his time spying on the neighbors, especially when said neighbors are in the Chute, which is close to his playroom’s windows. But he can even get glimpses of other chimps when they are in Lupine playroom.

What was catching his attention this afternoon was a lot of displaying from both of the other groups.

You probably know Cy by now as more of the quiet bookish type, but he’s also a large male chimpanzee who is more than capable of putting on an impressive display:

It’s not clear if Burrito wishes he were in the mix or is merely entertained/enriched by focusing on the goings-on of the other groups.

He’s certainly not the only one.

Missy was also keeping a close eye on things this afternoon, bounding up and down as a greeting when she glimpsed Terry in the Chute.

While we won’t be doing any introductions with Burrito’s group in the near future, it’s clear just having neighbors has added a very enriching element to their lives.

Sweet, nosy little Burrito. Or, shall we call him Mrs. Kravitz?

Vicky, your reference to Mrs Kravitz really cracked me up, nosy neighbor on Bewiched.

I still can’t help but wish Bubba had another chimp dude to hang with.
Thanks, Diana! Glad he’s enjoying his own “stories”!

It’s a lot easier to spy on your neighbors when you don’t feel the need to peek through the curtains!

It looks like they really enjoy seeing what their neighbors are up to. Burrito’s face is so cute looking out that window. As for Cy, never judge a book, or a magazine, by it’s cover.

Wonderful description of how things have a enlarging effect on enrichment when there is engagement, particularly from a safe, secure and trusted home environment. I love this aspect for the “Cle Elum 7” – as clearly do they. Great shots of the rapt interest in Burrito and Missy’s eyes (and body language) that the other groups provide for them. Thank you Diana, and all, as always.

Somebody [Buritto] has to keep an eye on what’s going on.

It is just too perfect that the always adorable Mr. B can comfortably sit upon his little bench/table and peek out–exactly ay eye level!–and spy on his neighbors. Actually I love his physical strategy in spying. Fitst, he employs the military foxhole approach. When that’s not enough he goes for full stance, wrenching his shoulders and bod to peek at something that must be just out of sight. And when that fails, he attempts to climb up on tippy toes for a better vantage point (nothing sneaky about it!). And everyone needs a good Wingman. Thanks Missy!

I bet Cy is very impressive when he displays. Same goes for Willy B and Terry. It’s wonderful the seven have other chimpanzees to observe and be curious about right outside their windows. It will be very interesting to see how everyone reacts to the new outdoor enclosures.

I love that they set up a mirror outside the window to help him spy….
