Negra is so beautiful….photos of her always make me smile, and relax. All of life’s experiences are there on her face, and she’s a very special old lady. Do you still dance for her? Now THAT would make a wonderful Christmas gift to everyone…..the team, dancing for our girl!!
It was only a few months ago, I believe, that they said she had the whole team dancing! I would love to have seen that! And JB said she seemed to approve of his dancing, too :slight_smile:
Aw, she got out of bed, and then had to wait!
Those are great pics, JB! I can almost see the hiccups now!
What a beautiful Lady!
Tic tock, tic tock, tic tock……drumming of fingers……sigh……heavy sigh……I feel rumblings in my tummy………….Where oh where is that breakfast smackeral!?
(Negra makes me think of Winnie The Pooh).
I love dear patient Negra. And yes, I loved today’s bolg. Thank you J.B.!
Kathleen, I adore your comparison of Negra to that wonderful Pooh bear!! It’s perfect and made me chuckle. And it’s so true, the expression on her face, her meandering along in the way she does, her tremendous hidden wisdom, the rumblings in her tummy (but not for honey in her case, or maybe yes? Dunno.) Just a perfect comparison! Thank you!!
It is indeed a good comparison! Something tells me that Neggie would never turn down honey
I love these pics of Neggie, she is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
That’s Negra’s look saying “”WHERE’S MY BREAKFAST GUYS**. Chop, chop hurry it up. You tell them Negra.
A question (inspired by Kathleen’s Winnie-the-Pooh reference above): Are Her Majesty and Her Royal Subjects ever served honey? I know that sugar is (wisely) not on the menu, but I am curious to know if honey is ever offered to Honey B and Co.? (I hope that during the recent octave of Chanukah that Cy was able to put aside his copy of Conde Nast Traveler and enjoy some latkes with his friends. L’chaim!).
Hi Tobin – I can’t remember ever giving them honey, though we have used it as a wound dressing! It’s possible we tried it at some point to mask a particularly bitter medication. We try to using avoid high-calorie foods like that as regular treats, even if they are natural and unprocessed.
she is the queen of 7.
thank you all for keeping the chimpanzees and all at the Sanctuary healthy – it’s beautiful.
cheers!
Thank you for the beautiful photos of this wise, thoughtful lady!
It is great to get to know all of your residents and learn and love them more. ?
i love all the Chimpanzee people and its hard to even say i have a favorite but i do. and it because of his love of magazines! absolutely makes my day to see him quietly perusing his material. i did want to say that hopefully this last 2 years are behind us and especially me; ive had some hard financial times and i promise as soon as im back on track i will do my best to raise money for these sweet gentle souls. patti Reagan’s Center for Great Apes is 45 minutes away from my home and unfortunately its closed to the public. occasionally she will have a day planned for a group tour. i love Harry-heck, i cannot recall a single cousin i dont like. merry Christmas to everyone and thanks for taking such wonderful care of my friends
Wonderful pictures of the Queen! Thank you all for your great comments, I really enjoyed reading them.
What a joy to see the Queen. She really makes my day :heart_eyes:
So, two reactions.
First, aw, I love Neggie so much!
And
what?! No blankets??
She’s not just Queen, she’s the Blanket Queen!
Hi J.B, I do have a quick question. Who is Negra looking at from her Portrait Window Seat? Is Jamie out on her morning patrol? Is Mr. B running with Chad? Negra appears to be checking out someone or something….
yes, something out the window….and the kitchen? 😉
Hi Kathleen – I don’t recall anything particularly interesting happening outside at that time…I think it was more her way of saying “I’m not going to acknowledge you until you bring me my breakfast.”
Oh, I have a quick question too. when reading your last post I clicked on the
“chimpanzee behavior” button and started looking at the oldest blogs/videos. In one of them, they talk about night grants. The last caregiver of the day would say good night and they all would exchange good night grunts. do you/they still do that?
I think so, Paulette. Katelyn occasionally mentions it in her blogs, and then a few months back, JB did a video that he had to speed up of Jodie making her night nest. And he said “good night, Jo” and got a response back.
That would make a good short video for us. Everyone saying good night, like the chimp version of The Waltons
Hi Paulette – Yes, we often say goodnight this way. Although more often than not we are trying to slip out the door before Jamie can ask for another book/boot/whataver. It reminds me of when I was a kid and would ask for a glass of water just to stall my parents from leaving me in my bed! On the other side of the building, Honey B is an enthusiastic “goodnighter” and will give you a great breathy pant from the comforts of her blanket burrito nest.
