Novembrrrr

Despite the November chill, the chimpanzees still seem eager to explore Young’s Hill.

Foxie, Burrito, Missy, Jody.

If you ask Missy, cold days are best when explored at a run!

In fact, the November cold creates a bonus enrichment that the chimps eagerly search for each morning…

Burrito was today’s winner of the coveted “tire ice.”

Meanwhile, the Escher structure seemed like a solid hangout space.

Later, Foxie took it upon herself to make sure the structure was truly solid.

As she made it to the top, I caught her tapping and stomping her way along the walkway, making sure the boards were still securely mounted.

Happy to see Burrito enjoying his favorite foraged treat — ICE! (I’m still laughing over Burrito in yesterdays post!)

Inspector Foxie had to preform an inspection after seeing the blown over wonky log the other day. You can’t have the structures falling down under your feet. Thank goodness she takes her job seriously. One less thing for J.B. to worry about, the Escher is solid!

So glad that the tire swing beheld some ice for the intrepid Mr. B. Now I wonder what his six new neighbors are going to think when snow arrives? I know of a 2.5-year-old resident of South Texas (and eager follower of this blog, and fan of the afore-mentioned Burrito) who, upon seeing a thin layer of snow for the first time on his lawn, remarked that it was “cold dirt.” Perhaps Terry, Dora and Co. are going to arrive at a similar conclusion.

Today’s post warmed my heart for all of these fascinating chimp people. Understanding the excitement of the winter enrichment bonus, and happy for Burrito that he was the victor in finding it. Missy, exploring at a run. Foxie, structional engineer, making sure all was safe for her and her friends.

Inspector General Foxie looked a little heavier in these pictures. To me anyway. I’m looking forward to the new crew discovering snow. I hope they love it as much as The Ten.

Inspector Foxie, on QC, and doing it alone today!
    Thanks, Anna!

Even the changing seasons are an enrichment for them!
