Happy August Birthday Wishes!

Happy Birthday to all you amazing supporters of ours who are celebrating an August birthday! You’re in wonderful company as you share this month with birthday ladies, Foxie (who turn 45 on August 8th) and Missy (who turns 46 on August 23rd). AND we’re also celebrating the second anniversary of Willy B, Mave and Honey B’s arrival to the sanctuary (August 18th)!
I often feel like August is a season unto itself. We’re in the height of summer heat and happenings, yet with an eye occasionally cast toward autumn on the horizon. It’s the time of year when something urges you to lift your head from the ease of summertime just long enough to have a glance around and make sure you’re enjoying everything you’d hoped to before the shadows stretch and lengthen.
While you may not celebrate your special day with mountains of troll, Dora and Strawberry Shortcake dolls, or mountains of tomatoes, we hope you will surround yourself with what brings your heart just as much delight and comfort. Or just grab a tomato and a troll doll and celebrate with us!
Thank you for being here! We appreciate you more than you know. And I suspect sixteen incredible chimpanzee people and four beautiful bovines would feel the same.

Happy Birthday to Leo’s! A month full of celebrations with Foxie, Missy birthdays (45 and 46?!?! I can’t believe it!) AND the 2nd anniversary of Honey B, Mave, and Willy B coming to CSNW. Lots to look forward to. Chad will be busy!
Speaking of summer and Marvelous Mave, I noticed for the first time in the video and the photo of Mave in the post “HI-DIDDLY-HO, NEIGHBORINO!” that Mave’s beautiful face has darkened from all the sun she must be soaking up this summer — lots of time spent in the chute I assume. I was surprised by her display in that video and almost thought she was Willy B and I couldn’t figure why I was confusing Willy and Mave. Then when I scrolled down to her close up photo I saw how dark her face is now, no longer predominantly pink with dark freckles. Now she is dark with a wee touch of pink freckles, making that adorable little dot on the center of her lower lip invisible. She looks magnificent. Healthy. Fluffy. Confident. And strong.

Yes! Mave gets so tan in the summer she often looks like a different person. 🙂 I don’t know how she does it, but she will bake in the sun of the chute for hours. California girl. <3 "Healthy. Fluffy. Confident. And strong." Goals! 🙂

Count me in as an August baby, but just barely. The 30th is my date, and I’m honored to share the month with Foxie and Missy. I arrived in 74, so these lovely ladies and I have a lot in common! I’ll be celebrating with them!!!!
