Who is your favorite chewer from the video? And why is it that non-humans animals chewing is charming, but hearing the same from our own species drives some of us up the wall?

I love watching all of them chew. Honey B’s leisurely, savoring is calming, Willy B’s careful placement of food in just the right oral location and then the chomp makes me laugh out loud, the bovine’s are always a peaceful bunch and so happy chewing, and Wilson is beautiful and adorable at the same time. I always love watching dogs eat. It’s that their jaws don’t hinge sideways that makes it so cute when they chew.
I’ve thought about why it’s cute when animals eat but not when humans do many times, often when watching the chimps. In fact I will admit to trying their style out (in private of course) to see what the attraction is. It’s liberating actually and I think food tastes better. Sadly I think we allow them full enjoyment of their food because we don’t have expectations of them to have certain etiquette. The same reason we aren’t likely to accept a human adult running around, naked in a joyous celebration of life but we love to watch an animal do it. So much suppression of joy and pleasure, so we can fit in and be considered appropriate and acceptable.

Willy B and Wilson are my favorites! Willy B is a crack up. He takes his time situating the cabbage just so in his mouth and then he let’s loose with his speedy chew. I laughed out loud watching him. And Wilson is wonderful too (he’s so handsome). I am so happy you included him because when I read the video intro my first thought was same goes for dogs. I have videos of my favorite dogs crunching happily away on a crispy treat. Always makes me laugh. Anyways it’s as much fun to watch as it is to listen. Also fun to watch their eyes as they chew!

Manners took all the fun out of meal time for us humans I guess. Should we blame it on the Victorians?

I’m one of those people, Diana, it makes me crazy when people make that much noise, but not animals.
If I were to close my eyes, it’s less endearing. So part of it is definitely the visual-seeing the chimps we love, and seeing them appreciate their food the way we all should. And the other part, I think, is knowing what they went through, and knowing that these fruits and veggies (for the 7) weren’t a regular part of their lives.
I noticed the same differences that Marcia pointed out.
I’ve got to love Willy B going through veggies the way cartoon characters go through corn, and his clicking teeth.
But other favs aren’t here: JoJo’s dinosaur grunts, and Foxie chewing her food at the front of her mouth, with the food half in and half out, like an old codger who just doesn’t care!

Humans are the only species capable of driving me up the wall, and their table manners (or lack thereof), like much of their other behaviors, are deplorable. In comparison, Honey B and Honey the Cow demonstrate the very ideal of decorum.

I was pleased to see inclusion of Wilson and Abbey in the video. I hope that they both gave Diana many a hug and kiss to their friend Diana yesterday on her birthday. Some (human) primates, it seems, are indeed worth having as companions.

I love Wilson’s imitation of ‘chewing his cud’…grins…He looks as if it takes great concentration doing all that chomping away…I just learned a very interesting fact from the UK Dep’t of Food & Agriculture: A cow chews her cud for about eight hours each day creating up to 35,000+ jaw movements…

Loved all the chewers, but my favorite is Wilson! Thank you for including your sweet dogs in this charming video.
