As the snow falls outside, the staff are continuing our PRT Zoom training from our respective office spaces and the chimpanzees are snuggled into their nests. Please enjoy these photos of Negra and her breakfast pears as my submission for “quick blog of the day.”

Just a couple of photos makes ( I think I can speak for ALL bloglovers..) us very happy dear Anna.
I was wondering what it is jou learn from zooming with each other….no chimps to practice with behind the computer, so just theory?
I was wondering if they’re following online training based on new studies, or if they’re exchanging ideas with other sanctuaries
The training is done by Margaret Whittaker of Creative Animal Behavior Solutions and is a refresher/continuation of what we learned from Gail Laule of Active Environments. It starts with about 10 hours of positive reinforcement training theory and then we move into one-on-one training with the chimps and real-world problem solving. Normally this would be done in person but with that not being possible at the moment we are going to try our best over Zoom. Once it is safe to do so, Margaret will be able to visit us in person and continue the training.
Sweet Negra! Pears are a personal favorite of mine. She seems quite pleased with hers!
