“HAPPY BIRTHDAY BURRITO! I wanted to honor you today on your 38th birthday simply because you are you, beautiful you. I celebrate you today because you bring joy to my heart. With one look at your face you can instantaneously place a smile on my face. You have proven that a happy, playful outlook on life, even after adversity, is the only way to live. You have taught me that I should find pleasure and bliss in the simple everyday things around me, even if it’s just a taste of my favorite food. Savor, savor it all. I am not certain if it was bravery, courage, loyalty, or all of these traits together that made you attack that nasty old rattler on that fateful day, but you demonstrated there are times in life when we need to take action, without hesitation, no matter what the consequences may be, because there are things in life worth defending. You are my hero Mr. B. and I love you more than words can say. May happiness shine upon you forever…. Chad said it best : “I honestly can’t imagine a life without Burrito.” Here’s to life with Burrito! Now bring on that pasta cam!!”

Kathleen, wow! I resonate completely with your wonderful tribute to Burrito, including my gratitude for his “teachings” about life. I clearly have a lot to learn from him in his wisdom. Thank you for noting these great lessons that he lives out so simply but profoundly. I’m so grateful for this community and that we can share being a part of all the wonderful beings involved, humans, chimp people, bovines, and all (well, maybe not the rattlers).

Burrito is indeed my favorite. It’s hard to believe your family of chimps are mostly in their late thirties. They often seem more like teenagers. Happy Birthday, Burrito.
Indeed, most of the 7 are in their 40s! We should all be doing backflips in the last quarter of our lives!
