In Honor of Kathleen and Stephen Hero!
December 24, 2020 by Chad -
Today is sponsored by Caroline Hero in the memory of her parents, Kathleen and Stephen Hero!
“In memory of our parents: Kathleen and Stephen Hero. Thinking of you every day, forever in our hearts. Every day is difficult when you lose a parent and Christmas is a particularly difficult time of year. Once again, instead of buying presents, I am giving my siblings the gift of love and support for those in need! Reading the blogs and watching the videos brings great joy to our hearts and supporting the Cle Elum family is my idea of the best present to both give and receive. Christmas is about giving and sharing, and I wish you all health, happiness and every success caring for these beautiful animals.”
Thank you so much for this extremely thoughtful gift and way to honor you parents! We all hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season!

congratulations on having “chosen” such fine people to be your parents……Merry Christmas…
You are right, Caroline, it does not get any easier with time.
Thank you for thinking of our chimpy friends and sharing the bounty with them. Sending you Christmas blessings!
Why do I think that Nutmeg is thinking, “Moooom?! Cut it out! You’re embarrassing me in front of all my friends. I don’t want the cool kids to laugh at me!”
As for these photographs of Negra, what a difference twelve years of living in a sanctuary make. From that photograph of her basking in the sun not too long after she arrived in the Cascade mountains, to what appears to be a more recent picture of her with the pine tree, the humans who created this sanctuary brought her and her troop out of death and into life. What a great gift you have bestowed upon the fourteen — and soon to be twenty — unique and irreplacable individuals who live at this sanctuary, this ark. Thank you all so much who care for them.
