Change of Plans

This afternoon I was photographing Jamie as she chewed and wadged some cattails.

While I was hoping to write a blog post about wadging, she soon decided that she’d rather groom the camera with her cattails.

There’s no way to ever be a fly on the wall when photographing chimps.

Thankfully, Jamie was in a very laid back mood today so she let me continue taking close-up pictures while she groomed the camera, my phone, and my boots.

Eventually, a bit of drama between some field mice outside the Greenhouse got Jamie’s attention, and she chose to finish wadging her cattails where she could watch it unfold.

I adore learning about them and especially the photos and videos. But what is wadging?

Thanks for including this link to Annie and her wedge. She has such a lovely face, I could look at her forever. I remember this post and it still brings a smile to my face today.

Thanks to Annie’s link, we did learn about wadging and we enjoyed Jamie’s events of the day. Win win! So your headline should read “Sticking To My Plan Plus A Zoom And Groom”

How embarrassing J.B., since I’ve always thought that if the chimps got tired of chewing, or just wanted to save their wadge for later, that they tucked it into their pelvic girdle for safekeeping…grins…

These are some fantastic shots J.B. The one of the the camera, (taken with your cell phone I assume) is worthy of note, but I love some of the others for the expressions on Jamie’s face. She looks particularly fierce (in a good way) in some of them.

Thanks for the great photos, JB! And for having the patience to hang in with Jamie’s antics and distractions. Looking forward to learning more about “wadging.”

Adorably fierce is the wording I was looking for.

Much gratitude for your post J.B. just what my quarantined being needed for nourishment. Many blessings and peace to all.

BTW, when my time comes to transition back to the collective (anticipating many more decades yet to journey) In lieu of flowers I shall be guiding my folk to gift to Chimpsnw.org Just throwing that out to others.

Down the road, is there a possibility there will be a reintroduction of the two separate groups? I always wonder if there will be another opportunity for mother and daughter to reconnect. Merci beaucoup ??

OhMyGosh…I always get so tickled seeing those adorable little whiskery hairs protruding from Jamie’s upper lip…They really add to her charm & absolute endearment…Such a fascinating character…

Super amazing photos J.B.! In the photo where Jamie is grooming your camera it appears she has shaped her cattail tool to look exactly like one of those bamboo back scratchers. This made me laugh, knowing how smart Jamie is she very well may have done this on purpose. Love the “wave line” in her eyebrow in the bottom photo. She’s incredibly beautiful and adorably fierce. (Tee hee hee)
