On the Mooove

On Monday, Katelyn posted about the cows’ return to the summer pastures. Here’s a video version of the same event.
If you haven’t been around cows much, think of them as 1,000-2,000 lb. dogs, with every bit as much personality. Spring has always been a wonderful time of year, but seeing it through a cow’s eyes gives it even more profound meaning. Already they are choosing to forego sleeping in their barn so they can camp at their spot above Young’s Hill overlooking acres of green pasture.

That’s so fun, to look at things from the cows perspective.
Just beautiful! Thanks for taking us on the journey to the new pasture with you. They are magnificent animals. Fun hearing them munching on the grass. Cracked me up to see Jamie’s caregiver wearing two different boots! Thank goodness Jamie signals you to keep moving, with that spectacular view from the top of the hill it would be easy to plop down between the cows and spend the day gazing and dazing while the cows are grazing.
I’m convinced I know exactly where I’d be if only I had the opportunity to forego my own bed, & instead, sleep out in the clean fresh air (under the stars) at that same sweet spot as the cows, on top of Young’s Hill…All I’d need to feel genuine bliss is a few old quilts, my telescope & binoculars…
That unexpected & “moo-vable” moment around 1:49 -ish is PRICELESS… : ) It added so much to the moment of the story…
It always makes me happy when you take the opportunity to present cows as beautiful & gentle beings with their very own individual personalities…I’ve always, always loved their serene & sweet looking faces, & even their velvety ears…
Thanks JB for sharing this special footage from a seemingly routine day at the sanctuary…I can’t imagine life without the awe of Nature & all the magnificent animals of our planet…

I never knew cows were curious, affectionate, cheerful, though I did know they howled in agony for days when their new born babies were taken from them right after birth. That alone should have been a clue but seeing JB having his face kissed by a cow was an even better enlightenment. I never thought they would love to have a human pet them.
Love this post. My brother let his neighbor graze 400 head of cattle in a pasture on his farm. You could set your clock by where they were in the field. Their big brown eyes are captivating. The move together as families. He didn’t want to give them back!
