Laughter is the (second) best medicine

Over the last few days, we have been arranging play dates for Burrito.  He still has a stubborn, slow-healing injury on his toe that needs to resolve before he can rejoin the rowdy gang of girls (who are in the midst of a thunderous group display directed at their three neighbors as a write this). But we felt he could safely handle some one-on-one visits, and we knew it would do him a world of good.

Jamie (shown grooming Burrito in this series) and Jody have been tending to both his wounds and his spirits. They’ve groomed his injuries and engaged him in slow games of chase throughout the front rooms. Just minutes ago, Jody and Burrito were gently wrestling and laughing so hard I could hear them from the foyer.

They say that laughter is the best medicine but we’re not going to give up on the antibiotics just yet. Burrito will continue to get late-night yogurt cups, juice, and all other manner of goodies stuffed with meds until that toe heals. But visits from friends sure do help.

JB – thanks so much for the update. Been worried about B as it’s been a long recovery. So glad he is having some visits from the girls.

Thanks J.B., your update just brightened my day. This is wonderful news. I have been worried about Burrito but now I can see Nurse Jamie and Nurse Jody have it all under control. Laughter is the best medicine!

Yeah, I think the guy might deserve a visit from the “pasta cam” on Jan. 6! 😀

Thanks for such encouraging words about Burrito…Like so many others, I have a deep love & interest in all ten of the magnificent chimp people, but Bubba grabbed an extra special spot in my heart of hearts very early on…
Ok…I know some folks will think I’m a bit crazy, but it seems over all this time that I’ve developed a sense of genuine “maternal” feelings for Burrito…I can’t help it, but I don’t care…HaHa…My feelings run very deep especially when it comes to animals who suffered at the “hands of man”…I would have been first in line to volunteer to “sit” right next to Burrito’s “recovery room,”on the cold concrete floor & take notes of his every movement & sound…
I literally fell into a fit of giggles hearing about what the Girlies were up to…They must feel a sense of camaraderie when they’re all hooting & displaying at the same time knowing their three “rival” neighbors were close by…I can’t help but wonder just which of the six Girlies got the other five all wound up… Certainly it wasn’t sweet Neggie, but I wouldn’t put it past Jamie, (Mensa might want to recruit her… : ) who simply FASCINATES me…
I hope everyone has a pleasant weekend & that all ten of the chimps stay warm & cosy & playful…

Hugs to all from the Midwest…

I am so happy that Mr. B had visitors in his solitary confinement cell. This was good news indeed. Heartwarming photos of his nurses tending to his boo-boos.

So this had made me wonder, JB, ….in these weeks of Bubba’s recovery, has Neggie been more likely to get up and get breakfast in the morning? Or is it really that the cold smoothie just doesn’t do it for her?
