A light through the woods

A corner was turned. Burrito has made significant improvements today, much more alert, eating and drinking well, spending time allowing the girls to groom him throughout the day, pant-hooting with the girls occasionally (or at least getting up to watch them), and we even got a small, soft, laugh. He has a long way to go, but cautious optimism embraced, all our hearts are buoyed.

A short post for a busy day, but we know when you’re worried about someone you care about it always helps just to be able to see them. So here are a couple snapshots of the patients.

Burrito: It’s hard when you’re feeling so very groggy and a little bit loopy and find you have sweet potato stuck to the bottom of your foot that you’d really like to eat, but aren’t quite sure how to reach it…

Honey B has been basking in the care of Mave, who has been diligently following her all day, tending to her wounds non-stop. Honey B has spent much of the day sitting atop her little wheely-cart and zipping around during meals and looking out windows. She still has some healing to do, but she seems back to her clever, quirky self and we couldn’t be happier:

So glad to hear this. I know you’re pleased, too. So glad Burrito is getting love and support from his friends.
    And how sweet is Mave.

    Lovely pictures, thank you.
I wish little Nurse Mave could go back and forth between both patients 🙂

      I second that sentiment.

Thank you for the reassuring news on Burrito and Honey B. I feel I love Mave more each time her name pops up in a post. She is the perfect little peacemaker, and the world needs more of those!

I feel ya, Mr. B. Happens to me all the time-I *hate* it when that happens!

    Thank you, Katelyn-great pic!

I am so happy Burrito is feeling better and on the mend. I don’t think it is possible to love sweet Mave more than I already do! I’m really glad Honey B is back to herself. Does she still play Peek a boo with her hand???

      Hi Deanna,
I don’t believe we’ve seen Honey B play Peek a Boo yet, but she’s a delight and a surprise every day so maybe it’s coming. 🙂

Great pics… so good to see them… what a dilemma for a fuzzy Burrito brain… Mave is just A-MAVE-ING!!! Glad to see and hear they those who have physical wounds are healing… as the emotional wounds are cared for by their chimp and human friends. Lovely post.. sending support and big hugs to all the caregivers… What a traumatic week…

I guess I must have missed something. Can someone tell me what happened to Burrito and Honey B?

Friday morning, a big fight about 4:30 a.m. If you click on the “thank you” post at the bottom of the page, it will take you to JB’s post, which will have links for you to click on. Or, just go to Sunday’s post

So glad to hear Mr B and Honey B are on the mend. I hope the same is true for all the CSNW humans. Sending lots of love.

Exactly what injuries did Burrito she stain?

I am a bit behind on so much right now but I wanted to send my love and all my best to Burrito and Honey Bee, it must be so very difficult to witness any of the chimps getting hurt but we know this can happen. My heart goes out to Burrito especially as I just love this chimp 🙂 I am so very happy they are both healing and getting back to themselves. My best goes out to the entire staff as well during this healing time, thank you for all that you do for the chimps.
