I was so excited to receive my email with this video. Needless to say, I was teary eyed at about 1:26 into the vid when I read the caption “And the journey to their new home began”. Ack, that got to me, as did seeing Diana offering bottled water to quench their thirst but the road stop sunset scene with the van all lit up inside made me truly realize the enormity of it all. The one visible chimp appeared so small in that scene, such precious cargo and a massive responsibility to move them home safely and swiftly. How joyful to see all three transferred into their new accommodations. Thank you for capturing and sharing your journey with us.

I, too, thought it was nice that they got to see a bit of sunset on their break!
(Keeping my fingers crossed that you get Carla’s painting of Neggie; I know how much you like her).

Diana, when Honey B came out of the cage, she did something to make you laugh-what did she do?

Linda – she opened the door herself to get into the new space. 🙂

          That’s what I thought! Thanks!?

Great question Linda, I was curious about that too, and what a marvelous answer Diana. I can’t get over Mave, inside already and clutching her red blanket, peeking to see Honey B released. I gotta grab a Kleenex just thinking about it!

It is so exhilarating seeing all of CSNW’s hard work/planning coming to fruition!! I am so proud of your accomplishments.

I always get choked up whenever I watch any of these videos…in fact I am choked up right now. I love all animals so much it hurts. I will never stop supporting animal rights…and warning: I will hurt anyone who hurts an animal…or child.

Loved the jumping and running around with JOY towards the end. Thanks for sending us the video twice…it was well worth watching again. Bringing them water and a snack during the long journey was very touching.

! hope that you will answer my question since I have not had questions answered before. Would you please tell me why you were only able to adopt 3 of the 42 chimpanzees needing homes?

    • Avatar Diana on August 29, 2019 at 10:07 am

Hi Diane. I’m happy to answer your question. We only had immediate space for a group of three to four with the goal of integrating that small group with the seven. If integration goes well and we can continue our expansion, we will have room for up to 16 more chimpanzees (two groups of up to eight each). We are also working with the North American Primate Sanctuary Alliance (NAPSA) to find other placement for the chimpanzees at Wildlife Waystation. This is a very large number of chimpanzees and no sanctuary has immediate space for large groups, so it’s going to take a lot of funding and construction. We are determined to help in any way that we can.
