Yes I know, 2018 was sooo 2 days ago, but I wanted to send it one last fond farewell by looking back at some of my favorite sanctuary video moments from the year.

Here’s a really great one that shows some amazing positive reinforcement training progress between Jamie and Diana:

I’d almost forgotten about this delightful Annie/Missy play video:

In 2018 the chimps got a really cool new structure built for them on Young’s Hill:

I really love this video, especially because we were just trying out a new phone stabilizer for filming and it makes the footage look pretty smooth:

Jamieween is always a great party and 2018 was no exception:

2018 also brought 4 new bovine residents to the sanctuary:

December of last year was full of enriching projects for the chimps:

What did I miss? What was your favorite video from 2018?

I think my favourite video was the one of the chimps exploring the new climbing structure. annie being the first to surmount it was quite a moment for her. I just love seeing them as they face something new.

I love the videos where Jaime is investigating something new or something that is a challenge for her.Her creativeness& intelligence always amazes me!She is so focused& intense&I love that she is left handed like me.Koko the gorilla was also a leftie.I love how she always opens up the directions to a new toy.I also have an infinity with Miss Negra& her sleeping under her blankeys.I am also a senior who loves my own warm nests.I adore all of the chimps& each video brings me much joy!Thank you!?

Even though this is from 2017, I think this may be my fave CSNW video of all time lol —

I love this video too! I’ve seen it a gazillion times, and I often show it to new people
as a means of introducing the CSNW website to them. Also, it is a timeless message from
      the Boss Lady herself.

From this year? Thanksgiving, hands down. Of all time? “Foxie’s new doll” or “Sharing” “Sharing” features some great shots of a lot of them.

Thanks Anna, this was a fun run down memory lane. I too forgot about the Annie/Missy play video and I especially loved their game of “Got Your Toes”. And one of my top all time favorite videos (and accompanying blog post by J.B.) is your last video.

To add a few more to your list:
    FIRE HOSE KNOTS : https://staging.chimpsnw.org/2018/07/fire-hose-knots/

ADDED ENRICHMENT (mind blowing Jamie at her best) : https://staging.chimpsnw.org/2018/03/added-enrichment/

CLIMBING HIGHER (because I never want to take this gal’s freedom for granted I deeply enjoyed this video) : https://staging.chimpsnw.org/2018/03/climbing-higher/

    And my FAVORITE eating videos:
THE SOUND OF CELERY (LOVE!) : https://staging.chimpsnw.org/2018/08/the-sound-of-celery/

P.S. Having just viewed this video yet again (I love the talk-show segue music as much as the all-knowing grin on Jamie’s face), I confess that I was hoping that Jamie might provide a series of these “Ask Jamie” PSAs to provide guidance to the confused and forlorn.

Yes! I would love to see a series of “Ask Jamie” videos!!

Isn’t it amazing that the chimpanzees have yet to star in anything less than a must-see video? I wonder if
they would be interested in viewing some of them.

Among my favorites from the past year (the afore-mentioned included) are:

“Good Morning, Neggie”, from last January. I’ve long adored Her Royal Majesty, but this video also enlightened me as to how absolutely cute she is! I also love the inadvertent sequel from few weeks ago where Negra takes her sweet time getting out of bed. Once she finally walks out of the greenhouse to leave it for the staff to clean, Jody walks in! Timing is everything in comedy.

As for comedy, I seldom ever laugh “at” the chimps, but “Burrito & Foxie” from March 2 had me in stitches! The best (romantic?) comedy of the year! The look of Foxie’s face early on in the video when she seems to realize that Burrito has a serious case of the giggles is priceless.

Speaking of romance, the video of last year’s Valentine’s Day party was so endearing, least of which that, prior to watching it, I was (once again) trying to absorb the news of yet another schoolhouse massacre of humans by a human. The contrast in the behaviors of the two primate species speaks for itself. As I have written before, this website provides a well-needed respite of sanity and goodness from an anthroposphere gone absolutely mad.

Finally, I think that the best video of the year is, appropriately, from Earth Day, when the chimpanzees walked up Young’s Hill on a beautiful afternoon and climbed up the Escher tower.

Beautiful! So happy these chimps have a good life now! Thanks for all you do ??

Sorry, that was supposed to be a heart!

That thought crossed my mind, as well. Once a month, or so….
