Last weekend we welcomed our new bovine friends to the sanctuary. They’ve been staying in a smaller corral while we fixed up their home and this afternoon we let them go out and explore their new pasture. After being a little tentative at first, they kicked up their heels and got acquainted with their surroundings.

Looks like they’re enjoying themselves and the sun and broad space and their freedom.

How lovely! They are each so beautiful and it’s great to see them literally jumping for joy in their new home. What a great addition to Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest!

They look fast and chipper enough to challenge a chimp to a race……give Missy a “run” for her money! 😀

Can the champs drink the cows milk? If not why not?

Cow’s milk is for cows. And no one else.

Theoretically chimpanzees can eat the same things that humans can, unless the individual has an allergy or intolerance (some chimps can be lactose intolerant).

We aren’t looking to keep the cows for milking purposes. We would have to breed them since they only produce milk after pregnancy. We are just happy to let them live out the rest of their lives in sanctuary, just like the chimps 🙂

However, they are going to help us out a lot by firewising our property by grazing all our newly purchased pastures!

What a fabulous idea giving a home to these 4 who in turn will help keep your grass down. You caregivers sure do come up with some amazing ideas. You never cease to amaze me. I loved they way the cows were leaping for joy when they first were let loose in their new home. a to you all

Can the Chimps see their new friends and if so, what did they think? ?

They can see them when they climb up high on their outdoor structures. They are mildly curious 🙂
