Missy and Jamie have tightrope walking skills that are unparalleled by any of the other chimps at the sanctuary.
Some of the other chimps will use the horizontally stretched fire hose, but usually more like this:

Can’t blame him for his decision to stay on firm territory.
A snowy day can kill all desires to play, so I don’t blame Jamie for being a party pooper. I am not a fan of snow but knowing there were two bald eagles flying over Young’s Hill would have me running outside to observe — how cool! I hope tomorrow brings Cle Elum some sunshine and Jamie (and Burrito!) get to have a ton of silly fun! XOXO
Does the age of a chimp effect their ability to tightrope?
Not necessarily. Jamie and Missy are both older than Burrito 🙂

Diana, I wish to commend you for taking these photographs. I am especially impressed with the photograph of Missy. The lighting, and the color contrast between her amber eyes and the penumbra of grays elsewhere on her face, is absolutely beautiful. I’m not sure if the subject of your portraiture would be interested in seeing the finished product (Missy is, after all, a “Chimp’s Chimp”), but I wonder if she would enjoy seeing herself in such a manner. And yes, she does appear to be taking in the wonder of her surroundings.
Thank you, Tobin! The story behind that photo of Missy is there was snow sliding off the roof of the greenhouse, which caused her to gaze towards the ceiling in the middle of a grooming session with Annie. Though the snow movement was rather loud and dramatic, she was simply curious and remained content in the safety of the greenhouse. I just love her expression in the photo, though I wish I had caught her full face and not cut off her chin. I also love the chimps’ amber colored eyes. I’ll see if I can catch Missy in a still moment to show her the photo 🙂

Dearest, SWEET Mr. Burrito…Thank goodness you reconsidered your scary adventure because NObody could bear it should you fall & become injured…Plenty of tears would certainly fall if you or any of your friends ever got hurt…
Also, don’t be embarrassed that Jamie & Missy have mastered the tightrope before you, (you just haven’t quite gotten your mojo yet, & that’s perfectly OK, as I know, you DEAR boy, that you shine so brightly in other ways, & all the girls hold you in high esteem… : ) Love to ALL at CSN, Poppy
