Neighborhood watch

Not a lot slips by the Cle Elum 7. Whether it’s a snake out on Young’s Hill, or a stranger pulling into the parking lot, the chimps are very in tune with even the slightest change to their surroundings. Luckily, there are a lot of vantage points for them to keep an eye on things.
Many of the outdoor structures are just right for spying on the goings on around the property.

Negra seems to really enjoy watching the train and other activities in the valley below the sanctuary. She is quick to alarm call to the other chimpanzees if something seems amiss.
This morning, JB wore some new bright orange safety gear while he worked around the property. This newly dressed caregiver must have been pretty interesting because at one point, we caught at least 4 chimps all watching him curiously.

Ha ha- I love the last photo. A couple of chimps who are on the ball – double effort to make sure everything is properly observed !! 😀
They look as if they are observing from the top of the world! Beautiful views all around them, they are so lucky. I have always been curious about Negra and the way she favors her view of the valley below, especially the passing trains. I wonder what she thinks of that train? Jody looks so pensive as she keeps her eyes peeled on Orange J.B. and I have to wonder again, what is she thinking? Oh to be Dr. Doolittle and be able to communicate and learn from them directly. 😠Thanks for these photos, always a spark in my day!
Ah, who’d a thunk it that Negra would be so adept at Trainspotting? Someone oughta make an indie film with a techno soundtrack…
As for Jody and Annie, one couldn’t ask for better nosy neighbors.
