JB — How do chimps sweat? Do they sweat?
Hi Amy – Yes, they do sweat, both for thermoregulation and for odor production. This is not an area I know much about so I’l have to look into it further. From what I understand, they have a different number and ratio of sweat glands when compared to humans and they aren’t as efficient at thermoregulation. It’s not common to see a chimpanzee dripping with sweat, which is mostly due to differences in physiology but also because they are smart enough to rest when it’s really hot outside 🙂
Thanks, JB, really interesting.
