Volunteer caregiver Becca brought out the mister today, and it was a hit (though Jody wasn’t sure at first).

I love it! ?? This has me wondering if you ever turn on a sprinkler that can spray water over the fence? I’m curious if they would find it fun to play in? I’ve seen videos of other wild animals taking a break from the heat in a pool or sprinkler to cool down.

Hi Heather! Not all of the chimps enjoy the mister, so it’s probably a better opt-in activity. 🙂

Oh Becca, you are the best! It’s as if Missy received the coolest pedi-misting, Jamie received a cooling head mist, and Jody received a cooling misty drink. Then you handed Jamie the paper towel to dry off and I totally said out loud “Ohhhhhhhh”! So sweet. Such a fun enrichment idea, I’m making a note to purchase a mister for the shelter dogs I visit!!

I have been soo busy at work and haven’t had a chance to watch one of these videos lately- just got to see this one today and it made my day! What a privilege to be able to be around these amazing creatures- I guess this was a reminder to me to take time out to watch the chimpanzees!

So good to see them enjoying the mister, was amazing to see Jody drying herself. We sometimes forget just how close our dna is.
