Grooming the Queen

Chimp to chimp grooming is so much more than just a way to clean up. Sure, there are hygienic reasons to groom, but perhaps more importantly, grooming is a way of strengthening social bonds between group members. As Negra and Jody demonstrate, it takes a fair amount of trust to let someone get so up close and personal with your eyes.

What a warm, cozy, loving, beautiful moment! Thank you for sharing it. Even Missy’s delicate hand looked so lovely as it snuck into the frame. It is indescribable, can’t express how I feel when I think of how very fortunate they are — the friendship/family bond between the Cle Elum Seven is so dear. CSNW is the perfect HOME for these precious people.
How beautifully you described this lovely scene! You expressed my own feelings exactly. I feel such overwhelming gratitude that these precious chimps have found a loving home and that there are those who love them and care enough for them to provide this.

A grooming chain. How wonderful is that. Sigh….
