Missy’s 2016 Cle Elum Olympics

Missy never ceases to amaze us with her feats of daring and Parkour. I think she lives out her own Olympic dreams every day, right here in Cle Elum. She rarely takes the easy way around, preferring to run, leap, climb and walk the tightrope to get where she wants to go. During a breakfast forage on Young’s Hill this morning, Missy started out with everyone else, but it didn’t take long for her decide she was going to take the firehouse from structure to structure, foraging in classic Missy style.

On August 23rd, we are going to be celebrating Missy’s honorary 41st birthday! Technically, Missy’s in the older chimp ladies age bracket, but Missy makes her own rules and seems to grow younger in heart, mind, body and spirit with each passing season. We can’t wait to celebrate this amazingly wonderful chimpanzee woman on her special day!

Missy looks like the best slackline walker I’ve ever seen.

I give her a 10! Missy is magnificent!! If I didn’t know better I would swear she’s a teenager. (These photos make my heart sign for her!)

She’s a lucky girl to be at the sanctury. Almost as good as being back in the wild
    She obviously enjoys the acrobatics

Have the chimps watched any of the Olympic Games on TV? If so what was their reaction?
Don’t most chimpanzees have a competitive spirit by nature?
My picks for Chimpanzee Olympic Games: aka COG
Foxie – Artist Gymnastics – of course,,, gold medal for back flips, pirouettes ….
Burrito – Definitely Power Weight Lifter
Negra – Archery – Shooting Since she’s a little less active …. needs a sport that doesn’t require a lot of movement. 🙂
Jody – Wrestling (not sure of her weight class) Jody’s Eyes on Apes page says she likes to play wrestle,,,,
Annie – Rhythmic Gymnastics because she has such an elegance about her
Missy – Anything Running and/or gymnastics…. not sure if she’d be a sprinter, middle distance or a marathoner. Shes so athletic she would excel at any sport she wanted. Well maybe not swimming.
Also – Annie and Missy Beach Volleyball, they are so close they would be an unstoppable pairs team.
Jamie – Olympic Judge or Referee – since she performs all the Quality control at the sanctuary and likes bossing people about. 🙂

Just wanted to add,, chimpanzee skills Olympics. Power weightlifting == Barrel toss ….
      Shooting — smoothy spitting accuracy.
Troll 4×100 relay or troll keep away
      Team to team grooming

Hope no one thought that I was suggesting the COG was for humans to be entertained!!! I had pictured Jamie watching as her troop lined up,,,,, and displayed in order.. … for the best display, and handing out peanuts. Silly I know.
