The Best Laid Plans

Jamie is religious about her Young’s Hill perimeter walks. As the boss, maybe she feels some responsibility to make sure the sanctuary is safe from intruders. But she doesn’t like to go alone. Her preferred walking partners are her caregivers. I can only think of a handful of times we’ve seen her walk by herself or with only other chimps as company. But today, she was desperate to go and couldn’t wait for us caregivers to get our act together, so she tried to recruit Foxie.

Jamie needs Ellie on speed dial as a stand in walker! I get a kick out of the way Jamie always grabs at the other chimps feet when strolling (or chasing) on the hill.
The foot grab is a go-to chimp play move. They seem to find it hilarious. 😉
I’m with the chimps, a foot grab is pretty funny. : ) Thanks for the reply!
Didn’t J.B. tell us once that walking a perimeter was a fairly thing for a wild alpha chimp to do? I dunno–maybe I’m making that up.
And I would’ve thought once she saw a caregiver standing there with the camera, she would have implored you to go along with her, instead of the chase and giving up.
