Missy doing what she does best

Missy seems to have boundless energy and is the chimpanzee most likely to be seen climbing structures with absolute ease, fire hose walking without so much as a wobble (or the use of her hands) and also sprinting around Young’s Hill at full speed. I think JB’s description of her being like a coiled up spring waiting to be released captures her spirit perfectly.

After foraging for lunch on Young’s Hill, Missy made her way up to the top of the hill and climbed the tallest structure. She barely sat down long enough on Carlene’s Tower to take in the view of the valley below before heading over the bridge and climbing back down. And then she was off, doing what Missy does best.

I am not sure there is anything better than watching Missy run.

What a joy to see them run, fast, free and happy. And look at the well-trodden perimeter path! I expect the outside path is well trodden, too, what with all those boot walks…

When I looked her pent up energy, being free to run over 2 acres plus the climbing stuctures, bamboo, etc, I wonder how she ever survived in that small 5’x5’x7 foot steel cage for decades of her life. It is amazing that she made it! Such happiness to see what freedom brings to the chimp spirit, as well as the human one for that matter.
