Free-living chimpanzees inhabit countries spanning equatorial Africa, but the chimpanzees at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest are becoming more and more acclimated to central Washington weather. Perhaps these photos of Jamie will inspire you to embrace winter too.

Love it! Maybe we should call her snow lips during the winter!! 🙂 I’m afraid Jamie is embracing it way more than I ever could! 🙂

Does their hair or skin thicken with the colder weather?
Not noticeably. Their hands and feet have very thick skin naturally, which I think does protect them from feeling the cold the same way we would if we walked outside barefoot in the middle of winter!
