Today was rainy so it was the perfect time to check out the new cabin! Missy and Annie both climbed around on it for a while, and Jody went inside to take a closer look:

A few moments later, Burrito was inside checking it out:

Later, he followed Jody all the way up to the top of Young’s Hill- a first as far as we know of! Apparently Jody was his inspiration on the hill today.

But then Burrito seemed to gain a little bit more independence and climbed up the treat rock.

Hooray for Burrito, and Jody’s inspiration—it’s good to see them working and playing together.

I really enjoy all of the pictures and videos of the chimps covering their day to day excursions. Seeing them experience their new freedom and happiness since arriving at the sanctuary brings me great pleasure. Thank you

Were there treats in the treat rock? Do they climb on it mostly when they smell food? How often do you put treats in it?

There weren’t any treats in the treat rock yesterday. We put treats in the tubes once in a while. They often just use it as a place to sit.

Is Jody second in command? And if you had to guess, when someday Jamie does the unthinkable and hands over the reins, who would be most likely to take them?
I love love LOVE to see B out exploring.

I would say Jody is second in command, though the dynamic is ever changing. If Jamie ever were to turn over the reins, I would have to guess Jody would become dominant, as she often seems to challenge Jamie as the boss.
