Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

The chimps enjoyed a St. Patrick’s Day feast this morning. Volunteers Katelyn and Connie brought potatoes, brussels sprouts, and Field Roast grain meat, as well as green fruit & vegetable juice. And while the staff were disappointed to see snow on the ground this morning, the chimps were more than happy to eat it – especially with a little bit of juice poured on top.

I’ve started to really enjoy hearing Burrito’s food squeaks. Great pant hoot at the start of the video, too!
You know, it’s kind of funny how they can still look pretty thoughtful while eating.
The cold is taking it’s sweet time letting up on you guys. About how long does it last usually? I live all the way over in Florida, and the weather here keeps going back and forth currently.
We are starting to see signs of spring, but this kind of back and forth weather isn’t unusual for central Washington in March and April. Thankfully, the snow doesn’t stick around very long this late in the year. This morning’s snow fall had disappeared by 2pm. We are all looking forward to consistently warmer weather, though.
What a great day for the seven! I was thinking (and talking about) them this morning as I was serving breakfast to the homeless. I hope it’s not politically incorrect to say that they made human food squeak sounds at the sight of our food!! lol!! My group of friends were all wearing green beads that I took from them to give the chimps. I can’t wait to see them again……I’ll restart my monthly shifts in April. See you at the Sippin’ event!!
Ok…..I feel that I need to clarify my definition of human food squeaks. I’m sorry if I offended any humans. What I meant by it is that they made many comments about how good it looked and how delicious it was. I was not, in any sense, comparing homeless people to captive animals. I have a guilty conscious now. I’m sorry.
Julie, you have such a sweet heart. Speaking for myself, I knew you were just relating the joy expressed by the people you were sharing St. Paddy’s Day breakfast with. I know I food squeak! 😉 It’s lovely of you to care enough to clarify for people though. 🙂
My husband has been know to food “grunt” and I take it as a good sign.
It looks like Foxie might have “brain freeze” from eating the snow. Love her St. Patti’s troll.
I had the exact same thought but had to laugh as she carried her helmet of snow. Too cute!

Wow, quite an excited group – I loved seeing Mr. B climbing up to covet his green basket of ice. You can really see how much they’re enjoying the feast by the look in their eyes – they look so happy!!!
I had to laugh that Burrito’s enthusiasm during eating makes his ears wiggle!
I LOVE love love seeing Burrito’s anticipation for his FOOD. You’d think he never eats, He absolutely LOVES expressing his excitemtn for eating, Then again he most likely cant believe all this good and delicously healthy food is for him. Poor little guy, every time I see that, I can t help but think of all his yrs of sensory deprivation, or deprivation of ANY THING fun, good , humane and enjoyable, bless his sweet litle heart, he certianly DESERVES ALL the BEST life has to give him , as do all the other chimps. Lest we not forget to continue advocating for ALL chimps in labs and conditions these chimps were rescued from, still exist, WE ALL MUST CONTINUE, or start advocating for them all, We Chimp lovers, and chimp supporters… are ALL they’ve got. Thank You. lets help them ALL be freed and feel as good as Burrito,
