The cold does not bother the chimps?

    • Diana on November 13, 2011 at 12:26 pm

It does. They don’t stay out long. Negra didn’t venture out at all. their love of eating snow makes the winter more bearable!

It’s been an exceptional gray, cold and dark day west of the mountains! Just seeing Mr. B’s happy face with music brought much needed smiles!!! Great visuals!!! Thanks Diana for brightening up a dreary day!

Chimps don’t get the brain freeze ice pick headache from eating ice too fast like humans do? More power to them!

    • Diana on November 13, 2011 at 12:18 pm

I have seen this happen to Negra when she was eating frozen fruit. I haven’t seen it with snow or anyone else I was worried about Negra until I realized what was happening!

I hope there’s no chance they’d get electrocuted with wet snow?

    • Avatar J.B. on November 13, 2011 at 10:09 am

Hi Tammy – No, wet snow doesn’t pose any danger to the chimps. If we get deep wet snow, it can actually reduce the voltage on the fence, so we wouldn’t be able to let the chimps out under those conditions (not that they would want to go out in deep snow anyway). But electric fence are used in snow country all the time, and there’s no risk of electrocution or unintended shock.

Wonderful video, Diana. Burrito looked so sweet and the girls, too. Look forward to seeing more of them out soon for a quick taste and look, especially Annie & Negra.

One of my favorites! I’m shocked and thrilled that they would venture out in to the snow at all. Thank you for posting. Made my day!

What a wonderful picture and video Diana!!! I also wondered how the chimps would be but never expected the thrill seekers out for snow! How nice that you no longer have to cart it in by the bucketfuls!!

Hurray for snow! I love to watch them eating it. They really seem to really love the snow. I could watch them all day. What fun! 😀

What a delicate flower our Missy is! VERY fun video to watch and so interesting about the food grunts for snow, though I remember last winter they were served special snow treats inside little troll doll heads. Could that be an association they might reference?

LOLOL! This just put the biggest smile on my face. Burrito was hilarious & handsome as ever. Jody’s roar was too funny. I was surprised too to see them venture out into the snow. I’m so proud of them!

That was was delightful and hilarious. The music was great!! I’m not surprised the chimps would be curious to venture out in the snow. I had a great laugh watching some of them packing it in their mouths then contrasting it with Missy’s delicate approach while not touching the ground it seemed!!! Great video!!!!

Missy is like me…I don’t like my feet to get cold. Too funny! I love that they enjoy the snow. Perfect music Diana!

I guessed it was Burrito first out! They are the best snow chimps ever!

Young Hill has become their Surprise of the day. They never know who will come out and play, or explore and what will be there- or what they will decide to do there! Wonderful!

That is so great to see the chimps out enjoying the snow. Hope you all have a great turkey day.
