The simple things

There are so many beautiful stories to tell about these first few days of Young’s Hill- it’s been an exciting time for all of us- but sometimes it’s the simplest things that move me. Seeing blue skies behind them and the sunlight shining on their backs, no caging surrounding them, and the incredible view they get to enjoy. It is an amazing thing to see.

    you are absolutely correct … seeing the chimpsters without obvious confinement is just wonderful …

    I know Jody is mostly staying inside but you haven’t said anything about my girl Foxie or posted any pics of her outside. Is she going outside any? That pic of Missy is gorgeous and Jamie is looking mighty fine too 🙂

      Foxie is still a bit apprehensive. On the first day, Foxie walked around the entire perimeter of the fence and then went right back inside and hasn’t gone out much since. I find it interesting given her “peacekeeper” status within the group. It’s like she walked the perimeter, made sure everything was okay, and now has chosen to stay out of it. She’ll come around- I know it. It’s just going to take her and Jody some time to figure it out and to get comfortable with the “great outdoors”.

    yes … I’m curious about how our Foxie girl is doing. I love what you wrote about seeing them uncaged. So beautiful.

    This may seem a little silly, but the photos make me think this is how they’d look if they were in Africa. I know the terrain is different, no jungle, but the pictures with the sky above them and the sun shining down on them are a joy to see. Where are you all taking the pictures from, most of the shots don’t have any fencing in them at all?

      I was using a telephoto lens for these photos so I could zoom way, way in. It’s tricky with the various layers of fence, but if you focus just right, it takes great shots where you can’t see the electric fence.

    It IS so good to see the chimps with the blue sky and trees, you are so right Jackie. It continues to bring smiles and tears of joy to my face.
    Thank you for the up date on Foxie. I know she will come around, too. Hopefully soon.

    I just saw the news report on Channel 4. Awesome!!! What a bittersweet story. I just hope we can change the bio-medical testing laws and change them soon. I’m so happy these chimps are happy and in a more natural habitat. They deserve that and much more!

    Jackie your photos are just beautiful, you really captured their happiness. I just retured
    from CE and working with the fence isn’t a easy task. May I ask what camera your using?
    I’m getting ready to buy another camera I’ve been using a Nikon 70. Again beautiful photos.
