It’s really amazing to look through some old photos of when the chimps first arrived at the sanctuary. Their skin was so faded, they had so little hair, and they just seemed expressionless. Even after just a few months, we started to see some drastic changes. This post shows before and after pictures of Annie—with only about 3 months between. Well, I took a photo of Annie today sitting in the same exact spot as our “before” picture. It’s pretty striking how amazing she looks after 3 years in sanctuary.

    What a beautiful transformation. I noticed this about all the chimps in your books–loving care, good food and an interesting environment make all the difference. Well done to you all!

    She is so underweight and her muscles have atrophied as you can see most notably on her right arm and under her neck….she looks great in the bottom pic.

    I’ve been away from the website for about six months (sadly-I know I’ve missed so much) but I can tell there’s a big difference from the last time I was here, let alone from the time they moved in! You can really see the improvement in their eyes and the expressions on their face. They just look so healthy now in body and mood!
