Last week, CSNW supporters Dick and Robbi Brown brought some beautiful purple lilac flowers for the chimps. I’ve known other chimps who really loved lilacs, most notably Washoe, but we just weren’t sure what the Cle Elum Seven would think. When we first gave the flowers to them, they were unsure (I tasted one the other day– bleh! they are pretty perfumey!), but today volunteer Seana and myself put out the rest of them in the outdoor area and they were a hit with everybody!

….well, almost everybody. Much like I would feel if I were them, Burrito and Foxie chose to remain indifferent toward the flower forage.

    i have always loved lilacs and these pictures are made even more wonderful by the glorious colors of the lilacs … i think the monkey around jamie’s neck is the one i sent … when i brought it home, one of my 8 pound chi-mix dogs (Ipo) did what he often does: secreted it off to his man (dog crate) cave … i finally noticed it some time later and thought it should go north … but wondered how it would be received by the residents. as i recall it has velcro on it’s hands and feet … glad that jamie enjoys it … you never know what will catch their fancy …

    Yep! That’s your monkey, Leslie!! I’ve told you before– you send us the BEST stuff! He was, however, decapitated today… 🙁

          hee hee ive just looked again and i can see the stuffing where his head was lol still made a nice scarf Leslie ! 🙂

    As a child, I loved lilacs so much I use to eat them. They’re still my favorite flower but now I just smell them.
