Hanging out with humans

Yesterday was an office day for me, but I stopped by the chimp house for a bit to take care of some things and to see the chimps. I noticed through the kitchen window into the chimp area that J.B. was playing with someone, which is certainly not an uncommon occurrence, but then I noticed who he was playing with- Annie! So, I quickly grabbed the camera and shot a short clip of it. She seems to really getting the hang of playing with her caregivers lately!

I went from grinning like an idiot to being all teary. This makes me so happy to see Annie (I was going to say of all people!) really happy! Thank you : )

I agree with you Amy, I got a little misty-eyed myself. I do believe that 2011 is Annie’s year. I noticed that she play-bit the mesh much like Burrito does when he’s playing.

Love the way she so clearly moderated her strength playing tug so playtime would continue! Who was having more fun JB or Annie – or both!!!!

After almost three years of Annie being so shy she wouldn’t interact with her cargivers I think I can safely say that J.B. was the one having more fun. It’s just so good to see these primates become comfortable enought to do things they have never done before.

Atta girl, Annie! Show us your playful side. I envy you, J.B. to be playing with her and the others. What a special moment for you both!
