I will never stop being amazed at how they “figure things out”. Loved the straw sucking noise. Hear that at home all the time, any time someone is finishing a chocolate malt!

I would be so frustrated I would have to walk away and leave it along, but not these guys, just work hard and you will get your reward.
did you show them how to use it first or just let them have at it ?

What a great enrichment! Great job, J.B. I love the sucking noise. She is getting every last drop…LOL! Did anyone show them what to do or did they just pick up straws and sticks and go for it? I bet it kept them interested for quite a while.
I notice Annie sitting beside Jamie watching at one point. Did she ever get a turn?
so what method turned out to be most successful? traditional or straw-sucking?
We didn’t show them how to use it, but I did leave a twig sticking out of one of the tubes and into the enclosure. When Jamie pulled it out, she realized there was food in the tubes.
Annie did get a turn – after the others were done, of course.
Straw sucking worked well for the pureed banana, but dipping was the only way to get the peanut and almond butters.
We set the board up again yesterday (the video was from the previous day), and Jamie spent about two hours on it after all of the other chimps had gone to bed!
What fun! I imagine they will have a lot of fun with this in the days, weeks, months? to come! Now we just need to keep filling and washing it. 🙂
