Burrito’s father, Mack, passed away on Sunday at the estimated age of 46.
After spending decades in research, Mack was rescued by Save the Chimps and brought to live on a sunny island home in Florida. He died peacefully during an afternoon nap. Please take a minute to read about his life.
Our hearts go out to his human and chimpanzee families.
Rest in peace, Mack.

You are in our hearts, Mack. We are glad you had some good years at STC with some of your children and other friends. We take good care of your boy, Burrito. RIP, Mack.
I had no idea that Mack was Mr. B’s Dad. He will rest easy now knowing that Mr. B is being so well taken care of.
He’s where he should be now, swinging thru the trees and pant-hooting with all the other chimps that are there.
I know Mack is at peace but I still cried for him and for his children who never got to know him. Burrito, your dad would be proud of you. RIP Mack and peace to those at Save the Chimps.
Burrito looks like his dad and will carry his memory on for us! We will keep Mack in our hearts and be comforted knowing that he went in peace and spent his last years happy, loved and cared for.
Burrito does favor his Dad. It’s a shame he couldn’t spend time with him. Mack went through so much during his lifetime. I am sad he is gone but so thankful his last years were filled with other chimps and love. I am also grateful he went peacefully. Mack will be missed I am sure but he is now truly free. RIP handsome Mack.
