Lunch in the sun

Diana and I took some photos this afternoon while the chimps enjoyed a lunch forage outside. It was great to see Burrito enjoying the sunshine.

Negra stuffed as many onions in her mouth as she could and headed back to the play room.

Jamie went after the brussels sprouts, but apperantly not before contemplating them first.

She also spent some time dipping her onions in buckets of water, and then pouring the water from one container into another. This is typical Jamie. She has such an active mind, and she will often make projects for herself to keep busy.

Do they live in cages still? Is this sanctuary any fun for them? I hope they can run free in their natural habitat recreated. I am so thankful you have taken them from this type of abuse, I feel so sorry for them and all they have suffered, people who are in science can be so cruel to get answers.

I am totally against animal testing and I think that it makes more sense to try things on humans because they can tell you what they are experiencing. I realize sometimes we cannot use things on humans, but I think that animals are not to be used in that way. they do not deserve to be part of this because they have no voice or choice and it is therefore unfair to force them to be subjected to this. Thanks for all you do!

I contemplate brussels sprouts before eating them, too. Very civilized of her.

Love the pics! They all look so happy to be in the sun. Bless Jamie’s heart, she is always busy doing her own thing. What a smart girl. This new photo of our buddy, Burrito, is now my favorite! As for sweet Negra, at least now she has a choice where she can go to eat.

At first glance I thought that first photo, of Burrito, was actually Tom Chimpanzee at Fauna. I can’t get over how many onions Negra has stuffed into her mouth. I’m glad the chimps have learned how to entertain themselves with all the enrichment and food they’re given.

Sadly, Sweet Negra’s food consumption techniques are all too familiar…I tend to shovel as much stuff as I can in my mouth too. Bless her! 🙂 What wonderful photos today, you guys, thank you! I agree, Theresa, that one of Burrito is a real winner.

Indeed, that’s a really sweet picture of Burrito. And, umm – I contemplate brussle sprouts as well, but usually I’m contemplating how to get out of having to eat them. LOL.

These are all such precious photos! I love seeing them out enjoying the sunny day!! Especially knowing that they spent so many years in that windowless basement with no access to sun or natural light at all! Love seeing my sweet Negra with her mouth full of onions :)….I love onions too, but not quite that much! 🙂 They all look so happy and content! Thank you for these wonderful pictures!! They made my day!!
