A window with a view

Here’s Negra earlier today, at one of her favorite lookout spots. She spends a lot of time gazing out the windows here. Early next year we’ll have an exciting project: replacing some of our “caged” windows with bullet-proof glass so that the chimps can look out upon the valley without having to see bars. We can’t wait!

    great news .. amen M & K!

if I remember correctly, I recall reading a story that Gloria at Fauna told about Jeannie (I think it was her ?), about how they installed a bulletproof window.. she was hoping that Jeannie would sit in front of it for a much better unobstructed view – but instead, she sat herself in front of the window with the bars – so incredibly sad to say the least .. poor sweet beautiful girl..
I have a feeling Negra & co. will dig the open view

I think this is a great project, it may be bullet-proof but is it Jamie-proof!

A few people have wondered why we need bullet-proof glass, and are worried that we need to protect the chimps from people with guns. Not so! Our community in Cle Elum is wonderful and very supportive of the Cle Elum Seven, and we’ve never encountered anyone with a gun on the property!

Bullet-proof = chimp proof. Although perhaps we should start calling them “Jamie proof” windows!

Beautiful Negra. I enjoy looking out my windows at home in the country. There is always something new to see in nature. I think maybe Negra enjoys that natural view after all the years of seeing stark walls and other cages. I am thrilled you are installing the glass so they can see more clearly. Nothing is too good for the Seven!

Yes, it is very exciting news about the glass and I look forward to getting an unobstructed view of them getting an unobstructed view of the world!
