Raisin Logs
November 14, 2008 by J.B. -
Raisin logs are a fun treat, especially for Jamie who gets to exercise her tool-using ability. We drill holes in logs and then stuff raisins into the holes so the chimps have to work to get them out. Jamie also gets to exercise her hoarding tendencies – check out the pile that she gathered by her feet.
Chimps are famous for their ability to use tools, but its not just a means to an end for them – most chimps truly enjoy the process.

She’s obviously problem-solving with that straw!
Boy I would love to see the Chimp working on the logs
I can identify with the “hording” thing………
love seeing her so engaged and occupied..
love the determined focused look on her face with her lips pursed just a bit (right Shelly K!?)
Go Jamie!
LOL! Yep, Dee ~ love those pursed lips 😉 So fun to see photo’s of Jamie and the others enjoying themselves! It is funny how she hordes….most of us can relate when it comes to treats!
Oh Jamie, Jamie, Jamie. What a joy!
Such intense concentration. What a smart girl! All those logs and the board at her feet will definitely keep her busy for awhile! I would love to see some more video of Jamie using her tools. She is such fun to watch!
I remember a video of the first time the chimps were given the raisin logs. Jamie’s pant hoots of excitement were great!
