Pomegranate feast!

The chimpanzees had a fantastic feast of pomegranates for lunch today. What a great fruit for chimpanzees – it took them most of the afternoon to devour two a piece, and they loved them! Like everyday, they had many interesting foods today including kiwi, pineapple, a banana bread made by Denice (Burrito and Negra were big fans), artichokes (not favored by many, but Negra ate all of the hearts out), mini-peppers (a favorite of all) brought to them by their friends Nissa and Amy in Snoqualmie, and pasta with sauce and fresh green onions prepared by Jessica (Jamie ate most of that, food grunting the whole time). Oh, and granola that I made a couple of days ago in our brand new slow cooker/crock pot which was donated by the chimpanzees’ good friend Tamela. I had no idea granola could be made in a slow cooker – luckily Tamela also supplied us with a cookbook. I can’t wait to see what the volunteers cook up now!

These are the most beautiful photos yet! I can see how pomegranates are great food for our friends. We must bring some for them the next time we volunteer. How beautiful each face is. As see how they are growing in health! Each face is more filled out and so dark. What an honor to be able to watch these chimpanzees in as they blossom.

so glad they enjoy these tangy sweet treats – really love these great close-up photos, so crystal clear..
this brings back a memory – a long time ago my grandma had a pomegranate tree on her property and all us grandkids would make a huge sticky mess with all that fresh staining red juice dripping down our hands and arms onto our clothes – good times! Negra, Foxie, Burrito & Annie look like experts eating these, bet they didn’t miss a drop or kernal!
    Go Pomegranates!

I love these photos! Wouldn’t these 4 pictures look beautiful framed & hung in a grouping on a wall!!? 🙂 It is so amazing how much healthier they look since they arrived 5 months ago….especially Negra! I wonder how many more years you have added to their lives by rescuing them from that dungeon at Buckshire!!
