The beauty of a greenhouse

This morning we woke up to negative Fahrenheit temps in Central Washington. The staff shivered their way to work to find the chimps cozy in their indoor nests. With chilly temperatures like today, we fire on the diesel heaters that pump in warm air to the greenhouse enclosures and give the chimpanzees more space options as we clean their enclosures.
Conveniently, cold days like this one are often paired with a blindingly bright winter sun that takes over keeping the greenhouses warm after the heaters are retired for the day. These sun filled spaces are the most popular afternoon hangout areas.

Clear and sunny days are always the coldest!

It sure is a freezing day over your way, Anna, and I wonder if the chimps(and bovines) were reluctant to leave their cosy nests, but, hey, breakfast would have lured them up and ready for their day. The greenhouses would be very welcoming with it’s warmth including the human chimps!.Also it gives you a chance to clean those enclosures while the chimps stay cosy. No surprise to see that you guys have all the options covered with those sub freezing temperatures keeping the residents safe and warm.
I totally understand why everyone gravitates towards the greenhouses. (Especially Neggie!) Your photos make it look as if it’s a summer day. Thanks for always ensuring the chimps have everything they need…. even warm air blowing into their winter day greenhouses.
I recall times when even breakfast couldn’t drag Negra out of her nest!
